We are switching from dedicated units to multirole fighters that can do anything, because lets be honest, not alot of the people who would pick a fight with us now have such an airforce where an interceptor specific fighter is required.

18s, 35s, 22s (or where those canceled?) with proper support is all we need.

funny that Iran got tomcats before the us navy did. Still, a beautiful aircraft. The f-18 is more than capable of filling the f-14's shoes duty-wise, but will really have to work to become as legendary.

i didn't and their toms can't fly they had thirty in the 80s and no replacement parts means their scrap by now pluse the us crews that handed em over sabatoged 6 of them all in different areas of the aircraft

1st it wasnt the IRIAF who bought them from USA it was IPAF (imperial persian air force ) or IIAF (imperial iran air force ) ordered them and this beauty build by our empire money ( i love our king god put his soul in best place of heaven )
so many call it persian cat
2nd in that time USA and persia was great friends
( i hope those good days back soon )
